I spend as much down time as possible working on my various creative outlets.

Employing simple philosophies based largely in personal fulfilment, the many projects of Myriad Mind are aimed at doing justice to both my swirling mass of creative consciousness as well as to the unmatched natural beauty and uniqueness of the Cowichan Valley and its residents.

A modern approach to a vintage classic

macrame

noun   |   mac·ra·mé   |   \ ˈma-krə-ˌmā \

1. The art of tying knots in patterns.

2. Fuel for the soul.

Macrame is an awesome outlet for me. It's at once physical and mental, cathartic and contemplative, stirring and satisfying. I love to collect and incorporate a variety of locally-curated accents (such as driftwood, crystals, beads, and metal art) into my work. The best part of it all? No two pieces are ever the same.

Accessories made with [slightly chaotic] love

There is an inexplicable satisfaction that comes from knitting, knotting, weaving, and beading a wardrobe to near-completion… My wearable pieces employ minimalist concepts, coupled with a healthy balance of modern and retro. Neutral tones with pops of colour tend to be my bread and butter. Hey, that rhymed!

Jazzing up a rather dusty tradition

Greeting cards are an oddly unnecessary and mildly tacky obligation, in my opinion. But, enhancing those little paper gift-additions was my first crafty interest as a young adult. Because of that, it will always hold a place in my heart (as well as an enormous amount of space in my supply cupboards). Some of these are quite dated, but there's nothing quite like revisiting an old flame when inspiration calls!

Nothing inspires like the desire to shower a loved one with gifts

These days, when a special occasion approaches, the usual commercial garb just doesn't seem to cut it anymore. When someone means the world to you, you hope to give them exactly that: the world! A thoughtful, personalized, handmade gift makes all the difference, evoking true emotion and leaving a lasting impression.

Experimenting with all kinds of art and DIY is always exciting for me. I especially gravitate towards projects that involve thriftiness, unexpected supplies, and up-cycling.Though my designs are always my own, I do owe many of these ideas in their conception to the amazing sharing platforms available today like Pinterest and Instagram. The internet has truly changed the creating game and it is a beautiful thing.
